Answer the Call has gone through many changes recently and although there have been some times of uncertainty, I am in awe to see how God is moving things forward. I think it all came when I got to my breaking point. The moment where we, as Christians, finally say "God I give up, your in control, take my life and all that is in it and I give YOU full control". What seemed to come out of this heart cry, was a deeper understanding of the love of God in my life. It seems as if this is what this whole ministry, Answer the Call, is going to be based on. The Love of God. The tangible, absolute, powerful love of God. Its about being full of the love of God, and then pouring out the love of God. Its showing that love of to the hurt, to the lost, the unlovable and the untouchable. I will never forgot the look of a elderly homeless woman I met in India. We drove past her on the way to a hotel and she was sitting on the sidewalk. There was this beauty about her, something that drew me to her. We drove on to the hotel, and then I walked back to try to find her. She looked so surprised to have this white woman walk up to her and sit on the sidewalk next to her. I didn't speak. She didn't speak. We just smiled. Then I started to tell her Jesus loved her, even though she didn't have a clue what I was saying, I know for sure the name of Jesus in itself is powerful, and she heard it. Then I reached out and touched her. She looked surprised, shocked, and pleased all at the same time. Born into a cast that society called "untouchable", yet, how can a soul, a flesh and blood person, really live when being shunned by those around them. There were others. The not so beautiful old lady. The dirty children who you know if you touch, surely some sort of vermin will transfer over to you, the drunk, the deseased, teh dying, and the leper, who is so isolated and feared that a kind touch to them is a rare and beautiful thing. They are not all so lovable to look at. Yet they are so loved by God the father. In fact they are used many times as examples in the bible. The love of God. Only with that, can we in turn, love the unlovable.
There are so many ways to show the love of God. Through touch, prayer, sharing the word of God. God commands us to take care of the widows and orphans, and the poor. Feed them, spiritually and physically. Clothe them. Teach them, treat them with dignity and respect. Help provide for their basic needs. Visit them, laugh with them, yes, even cry with them. My prayer is that God will use ATC and a means to take and share that love. Not only to the nations, but to our own next door neighbors. Use us Lord, pour out your love and fill us up, so we can poor it out.
